Welcome (to my) home

Ongoing participatory photo-project, 2020

The project is created and developing in frames of the remote art residency «Creativity from Home» with the support of Co-iki Arts Living Space (Tokyo, Japan).

The idea is to virtually connect home spaces around the world, erasing the borders and shortening the distances – not only physical, geographical, cultural and political ones, but also those put on by the global pandemic.

Anyone can join the project, from anywhere on Earth. You do not have to be an artist or a photographer – all you need is to have a camera or a smartphone to be able to take photos and a printing device or an access to it to print them out.

To participate:

1) Take minimum 1 and maximum 10 photos depicting spots and places inside their houses or apartments they consider their home: fridge in the kitchen, couch in the living room, desk in the working room, bath in the bathroom, etc.

2) Fill in a simple Google Form with a short info about who you are and what your home space is like. Add your photo(s) to it in the format you would like other people to see and print them.

3) Your photo(s) will be uploaded to this webpage, along with the information you wrote in the Form. The photos and info from other participants will be uploaded too. You can pick any photo(s) of the other participants' homes and as many as you like and download them to your device. To do this, just go to the Participants' photos section, look through the gallery, click on the chosen photo to see it in a full screen, then right click on it and select «Download image».

4) Print out the photos you've chosen in color – the size and paper is up to you (but it's advised to use A4 paper format or less).

5) Place the prints in your own home space.

6) Now, through them, you can virtually invite the entire world to your home – and be invited to the other homes,
which may be thousands kilometers remote from each other!

7) If you wish to make a publication about your participation in this project in social media, please add a hashtag #artwelcomehome to it, so that we could find your post and share it :)

IMPORTANT NOTE: by adding a hashtag you automatically agree that your post will be shared in the social media (Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr) of the artist Olia Fedorova and the project's partner and co-organizer Co-iki Arts Living Space and on their websites (www.oliafedorova.com and www.co-iki.org). Users visiting the accounts and websites will see your account names. If you don't want your photos to be shared, but still wish to post something regarding your experience – do not add the hashtag.

Your personal data is safe. We won't share any e-mail addresses neither publicly nor privately.
We will post only the information you give us in the Google Form and only those that you permit us to post.
