The landscape I am scared to forget

«…The series was created in frames of Kunstnarhuset Messen residency program in Ålvik, Norway. Six textile pieces were made of the fabrics I found in the cellar of the residency building – remains of old Norwegian blankets, curtains and furniture upholstery. Glued together, they refer to Ukrainian national flag colors. But at the same time, while creating them, I was thinking about all those wonderful landscapes of my country – with their clear blue sky and land blooming with all kinds of flowers and eared with all kinds of grasses, which became a home for thousands of animals, birds and insects and such a rich and generous source of life for us humans. The landscapes that I miss so much and that show up in my artworks again and again, even when I’m surrounded with stunning landscapes of other countries, wether they are Norwegian fjords, Austrian Alps or the skyscrapers of Tokyo.…»
